A 1960s Benrus men's watch, featuring a Swiss-made 17 jewel movement that has been inspected, fully serviced, and timegrapher regulated to ensure accuracy.
This casual vintage Benrus is one handsome timepiece! The stainless steel case (33.1mm excluding the crown) is in good condition for its age. There is average to moderate age wear, but overall, the watch looks fantastic. The pale silvertone dial has a touch of patination beneath the brand new crystal and the Benrus signature is crisply legible. The silver alpha hands look amazing; I removed the old lume, gave each hand a light polish, and re-lumed them with modern, radium-free paint. They turned out quite nicely, I think! The crown has ample grip and it winds and sets well.
Inside, the ETA 1281-based movement is clean and properly lubricated. With a very healthy amplitude, it keeps time with great accuracy. The watch comes on new, lizard grain leather bands that accent the case nicely. Overall, this Benrus is a sturdy, handsome utility watch, it makes a fine daily wearer.
Please note that all mechanical watches, including automatics, require occasional winding in order to function properly.
