A vintage 1970s Elgin watch, featuring a Swiss-made 17 jewel A. Schild 1914 movement that has been inspected, fully serviced, and timegrapher regulated to ensure accuracy.
This mid-Seventies Elgin looks like it was made only yesterday! The jumbo stainless steel case (42mm excluding the crown) is in excellent condition, with only light age wear. The dial is truly one-of-a-kind; a deep azure blue with a pale, baby blue center. White enameled hands provide a stark contrast against the dial and the matching sweep second hand is always in motion. The faceted applique Elgin logo in mirrored silver rests below the matching black Roman numeral indices on white fields. This dial was clearly designed by an expert and it is immaculately preserved beneath the scratch-free crystal.
The crown has ample grip and it winds and sets well. The caseback has light age wear. Inside, the AS 1914 movement is clean and properly lubricated. It has been timegrapher regulated in positions, has a healthy amplitude and, at 21,600 a/h, it is highly accurate, as you'd expect. The Elgin comes on US-made genuine leather bands with a matching silver buckle. This Elgin is the perfect summer watch, the sea-blue dial, sail-white hands, and polished silver case were made for evenings on the beach or cocktails at the bar.
Please note that all mechanical watches, including automatics, require occasional winding in order to function properly. The watch will be well packaged and shipped out within one business day and tracking information is always included. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask prior to purchase and I'll reply promptly. Thank you for looking and have a great day!
