1970s Clebar Deep Sea Chronograph

A 1970s Clebar chronograph, featuring a 17 jewel Valjoux 7734 movement that has been inspected and timegrapher regulated to ensure accuracy.

If it wasn't already abundantly clear, I'm a huge Clebar fan. If you're not familiar with their history, it's well worth your time to read up on them. Known early on for stopwatches and rally timers, their watches were distributed in the US by the same company as Zodiac. They often produced Zodiac-branded cases and movements with Clebar dials, primarily directed at the Canadian market. This Clebar Diver's Chrono is devastatingly handsome, with a solid 39mm case (excluding the crown) that is in good condition for its age. The dial is a deep azure blue and it's been very well preserved beneath the scratch-free crystal. The Clebar logo and all dial print is clearly legible, with silver club hands and matching applique indices.

All chronograph functions work as they should. The Valjoux 7734 movement was used by everyone from Le Jour to Heuer, and this one is exceptionally accurate, as you'd expect. The stainless steel screwdown caseback is also in very good condition with light age wear. The crown has ample grip and it winds and sets effortlessly. The date can be quickset by winding back and forth from 8pm to midnight. The Clebar Chronograph comes on new-old stock genuine alligator calf leather bands in a deep mahogany hue that accents the case nicely.
