Made circa 1969, this Zenith has a style that is surprisingly contemporary. The stainless steel case (31.0mm excluding the signed crown) is in excellent condition; it is clean, lightly polished, and has superficial age wear. The pale cream dial is pristine and the Zenith logo is crisply legible. Silvertone hands match the applique indices, all placed on full display beneath the newly installed acrylic crystal. The date indicator is located at five o'clock, Zenith Sporto style, and utilizes a smaller aperture like most modern-day watches. The date clicks snappily over at midnight, the Zenith-signed crown has plenty of grip, and it winds and sets effortlessly. The caseback is also in excellent condition, with only the lightest wear.
The 17 jewel calibre 2542C is a 21,600 v/h manual winding movement; it is clean, properly lubricated with the appropriate Moebius synthetic lubricants, and has clearly been well cared for over the decades. The watch has been timegrapher regulated in positions; with a healthy amplitude, it keeps impeccable time. The watch comes on new, brown lizard grain leather bands that accent the case nicely and are comfortable on the wrist.
An very well-preserved example of late-Sixties high style, this Zenith will quickly find a place in your rotation!
Please note that all mechanical watches, including automatics, require occasional winding in order to function properly.
