A 1965 Dorset men's watch, featuring a Swiss-made 17 jewel movement that has been inspected, fully serviced, and timegrapher regulated to ensure accuracy.
Dorset was the house brand of the venerable Montgomery Ward & Company, mainstay of American life from 1872 through the early 21st century. The stainless steel case (32.7mm excluding the crown) is in very good condition with average age wear. The midnight black dial is incredibly well preserved, the Dorset signature is crisply legible, and all indices are a lovely reflective silver. The silver alpha hands look practically new. A new hydro-seal crown was installed during the overhaul, it has ample grip and it winds and sets well.
Inside, the Swiss-made ST 1686 movement is clean and properly lubricated. The 1686 powered countless watches from 1960 onward; it has a well-deserved reputation as a robust, accurate powerhouse. With a high amplitude, this watch keeps time with the best of them. The watch comes on new Italian leather bands that accent the case nicely. With it's ebon dial and polished steel case, this Dorset would make a handsome and highly accurate daily wearer.
