A 1961 U.S. military issued Bulova 3818A hacking navigation watch, featuring a 15 jewel 10BNCH movement that has been inspected, fully serviced, and regulated to ensure accuracy.
Only made for a short time in the early 1960's, the 3818A is one of the *most* sought-after military watches on the market. The case (31.7mm excluding the crown) is in very good condition for a watch that's seen action. The black dial is exceptionally well preserved beneath the scratch-free crystal. The unique "spade" hands that are the hallmark of the 3818 are in excellent condition, with their original pumpkin lume intact. Pull the oversize crown out and the hacking mechanism stops the balance wheel, freezing the second hand and allowing for synchronization.
The caseback is original, not a field replacement, and has light wear for a service watch. Inside, the gasket and dust cap are present and in excellent condition. The U.S.-made movement is absolutely pristine. The watch has been fully serviced and regulated in positions; it is highly accurate, with a healthy amplitude as you'd expect.
The watch comes on WWII era military-issue service bands from the American Strap Co. of NYC. The Bulova MIL-W-3818A is one of the rarest MI watches of the Sixties and to find one in this condition is incredibly rare. It is going to make one lucky collector very happy indeed!
Please note that all mechanical watches, including automatics, require occasional winding in order to function properly. The watch will be well packaged and shipped out within one business day and tracking information is always included. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask prior to purchase and I'll reply promptly. Thank you for looking and have a great day!
