Circa 1957, this Longines has a clean, linear look. The 10k gold filled case is in excellent condition; it is clean, lightly polished, and has superficial age wear. The pale silvertone dial is in very fine condition, with a faint eggshell patina. The Longines signature is clearly legible and well preserved beneath the newly installed crystal. Slender index hands match the baton indices. The Longines-signed crown has plenty of grip, and it winds and sets effortlessly.
The 17 jewel calibre 23ZS is a 18,000 v/h manual winding movement; it is clean, properly lubricated with the appropriate Moebius synthetic lubricants, and has clearly been well cared for over the decades. The watch has been timegrapher regulated in positions; with a high amplitude, it keeps impeccable time. The watch comes on new, padded and stitched oilskin leather straps that accent the case nicely and are comfortable on the wrist.
Overall, this handsome, unfussy Fifties time-only Longines would make the perfect cocktail watch.
Please note that all mechanical watches, including automatics, require occasional winding in order to function properly.
