The Clinton Watch Company was founded by Hyman Wein in Chicago in 1922. He imported Swiss movements to be assembled stateside, creating reasonably priced quality watches for the US market. Partnering with Olma, they offered waterproof bumper automatic watches that were very popular with the modern sportsman.
The stainless steel case has sweeping horned lugs and very light age wear. The champagne dial has a faint patina, with easily legible military-styled numerals. The signature and automatic designation are crisply printed on the dial and the crystal has only a few minor imperfections.
Inside, a dust cap further protects the watch from the elements. The early bumper automatic movement is clean and properly lubricated. A new mainspring was installed during the overhaul, giving new life to the watch. Regulated in positions, it is exceedingly accurate. The watch comes on new black leather bands with white stitching and a matching buckle. Durable, reliable, and exceptionally handsome, this early Fifties Clinton-Olma would make an excellent daily driver.
