The case is overall in very good shape, with light pitting that is often found between the pushers. The dial is absolutely gorgeous, all print is crisply legible. The blued steel hands are also in excellent condition, not a single speck of lume is missing. All chrono functions work flawlessly: press the 2 o'clock pusher once and the chronograph second hand instantly begins moving, then press it again to pause. Press the 4 o'clock pusher and the hands snap back to 12 precisely.
The Venus 170 was introduced in 1937 and was manufactured through 1951. It can be found in Heuer and Breitling chronographs and was also used by Büren, Elbon, Gallet, Helbros, Leonidas, Wittnauer, and Wyler and others. It was the only Venus that utilized an oscillating pinion in place of the traditional horizontal clutch.
The stainless steel caseback is in very good condition with light age wear. The crown has ample grip and it winds and sets effortlessly. The watch comes on lightly padded and stitched black Coach leather bands by deBeer Paris.
