Here we have a 1945 Bulova Douglas gent's wristwatch with a high end, US made 21 jewel 8AE movement. The movement has been inspected, serviced, and timegrapher regulated to ensure accuracy (averaging +/- 20 s/d, 285° amplitude, 1.7ms BE).
This is the model that the new Sinatra "My Way" re-issue was based upon and it's easy to see why they chose the Douglas for inspiration! The 10k gold filled case (21.5mm excluding the crown by 30.5mm excluding the lugs) is in fine condition with the mirror finished upper and lower bezel and the concealed, drilled lugs that are the hallmark of the Douglas. The dial is in good condition with a light patina and the hands and indices are a lovely red gold hue. The crown has plenty of grip and the watch winds and sets easily. The matching gold filled caseback has been engraved and has some shallow scuffing. Overall, this is a fine example of the watch that inspired the My Way re-issue: the perennial collector's favorite, the Bulova Douglas!
