A 1940 Bulova "Ambassador" men's watch, featuring a US-made 17 jewel 10AX movement that has been inspected, fully serviced and timegrapher regulated to ensure accuracy.
An uncommon World War II era model, this 1940 Bulova Ambassador is in good shape for its age! The polished, gold plated case (25.0mm excluding the crown) has light to average age wear. The intricate scrollwork surrounding the bezel is in very good condition. The pale white dial is thoroughly legible and all numerals are a reflective gold. The caseback has light age wear and it snaps firmly shut to the case.
The crown has plenty of grip and the watch winds and sets effortlessly. The workhorse 10AX movement has clearly been looked after over the decades. A brand new mainspring was installed during the overhaul, giving the watch a very healthy amplitude. Regulated in positions, the Ambassador is exceedingly accurate, as you'd expect. The watch comes on a perfectly selected vintage Duchess-brand expansion bracelet with leather insets. These bracelets are always snapped up whenever they appear, to find one on an early Forties Bulova is a nice surprise!
Please note that all mechanical watches, including automatics, require occasional winding in order to function properly.
